LDA is Opening Four Mega Infrastructure Projects

Mr. Israr Saeed, Chief Engineer of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), announced that four large-scale infrastructure projects will be opened to traffic in the city this month. As per Mr. Israr, the completion of these four projects will cause a noticeable decrease in the amount of smog in Lahore. The LDA has strict guidelines for contractors to follow, mandating that water be sprayed on all construction sites every two hours.

Furthermore, flyovers at Akbar Chowk and Shahdara, the underpass at Khalid Butt Chowk, and the underpass at Bedian Road are all part of these developments. He gave details about the project, saying that the flyover project at Akbar Chowk will take only six months to complete, as opposed to the initially estimated 10 months.

In addition to the primary project, the Akbar Chowk flyover also included the building of 10 U-turns and the renovation of Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, all of which were finished without removing a single tree. Therefore, the project has a completion date of March 25, 2024, under a contract awarded on May 26, 2023.

In comparison, the Shahdara flyover project was expected to take 7.5 months to complete instead of the expected 10 months. The contract deadline is January 4, 2024, and construction is scheduled to begin on April 4, 2023.

The Bedian Road subway project, completed in just two and a half months instead of the initially expected six months, was progressing at a very rapid pace. The construction start date was August 26, 2023, and the contract completion date was February 26, 2024.

Significant work was also underway on the Khalid Butt Chowk Underpass project. The project was expected to take six months to complete but is now expected to take just two months. As per the project agreement, construction work is expected to officially begin on September 14, 2023, and be completed by March 10, 2024.
