FBR Takes Strict Action Against Non-Filers
In addition to the new administrative measures, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) plans to implement a versatile strategy, including notification to non-filers. As per news reports, FBR insiders have unveiled a bold plan to include one million people for tax relief at the start.
After that, to expand this reach to 1.5 million people, targeted initiatives will be started by 2024. In addition, the target could be further expanded by June 30, 2024, with the ultimate goal of involving 6.5 million taxpayers.
In addition to enforcing strict administrative and judicial procedures to ensure tax compliance, the campaign against non-filers also includes issuing notices. The act has been approved by the caretaker Prime Minister (PM), Mr. Anwar ul Haq Kakar, who promised to improve the revenue base under the proposal.
According to FBR officials, only 350,000 people have filed their tax returns in the current fiscal year, underscoring the perseverance of the situation. This highlights how important it is that the proposed reforms deliver a significant increase to taxpayers. It is also supporting the country’s overall economic growth and stability.
