The Director-General (DG) Aziz Ahmad Tarar of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) informed the city mayor that the authorities are working on several new projects to reduce traffic congestion in the city, news sources reported.

In addition, DG LDA briefed the commissioner about the ongoing projects on the Sheranwala gate flyover, the Gulab Devi underpass and the Shahkam chowk flyover. The project will help reduce the traffic burden on the city choke point of Shahkam chowk, where three main roads, Canal Road, Multan Road and Defense Road meet.

The PKR 4.5 billion two-lane signal-free flyover handles up to 200,000 vehicles per day.

At the meeting, the Director-General received information on alternative transport plans for vehicle bypass prior to the start of the road infrastructure project.

In addition to the three projects, the commission received information about the multilevel turbo roundabout on Shahdara chowk for high and low traffic control. The roundabout handles light and heavy vehicles separately. While praising the project, the commissioner asked LDA Director-General to launch the Shahdra roundabout Project as soon as possible.
