World Bank Offers $200 Million Credit Facility to Housing Sector

Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin held a Chairman's Meeting at the Ministry of Finance with Chairman Naya Pakistan Housing & Development Authority and Country Director World Bank (WB) Mr. Najy Benhassine, Consider the possibility of providing additional funding for housing finance in Pakistan.

The Country Director World Bank has shared the World Bank's proposed credit facility for various interventions in the housing sector totaling $200 million. He said the World Bank will support government efforts to boost the housing sector, especially for low-cost housing.

The finance minister appreciated the support of the World Bank and stressed the importance of the housing sector in revitalizing economic growth.

The Finance Minister emphasized that the housing sector is a top priority for the government and asked all relevant officials to finalize all technical details and to complete relevant actions related to the proposed World Bank funding within the next few days.
