Islamabad Expressway Phase 1 Expansion Construction to Begin Soon

As per the news, the CDA ( Capital Development Authority) has decided to immediately begin work on the extension of the first phase of the Islamabad highway through a government company.

As per the reports, the Islamabad highway will extend 2km from Korang Bridge to the G.T. road name. Phase 1 includes 2 km from Gorang Bridge to the PWD interchange.

Traffic on this major road has increased due to the growth of a housing community on one of the city's busiest roads. As per the CDA official, half of the highway problems are expected to be solved by expanding the section from two lanes to four lanes. The CDA Board of Directors has decided to award highway contracts under Rule 42 of the PPRA ( Public Procurement Regulatory Authority) rules.

A CDA official also said the interchange work was completed and open to the public. As per, CDA official, Engineering Wing Agency, PKR 2 billion has been approved for the project. They will get a self-constructed 2km part and the remaining 7km part up to G.T. Roads, agencies will ask the federal government for funding under the PSDP (Public Sector Development Program).
